Sowah

Another sentient extraterrestrial moth-insectoid race.
Their homeworld is just inside the outer edge of their star system's habitable zone, a planet forever trapped in the ice age. Lacking enough greenhouse gases to keep the whole planet warm, it's covered in ice and snow. There are, however, warmer points on it near the equator. Despite the chilling cold, some plants and animals have managed to survive and adapt outside this warmer area, although most of these species are rather small. The Sowah have evolved to a state where they don't need to hybernate through most of the harsh winter anymore like most other creatures, instead they've built massive hives where they've planted different fruit trees to survive until spring. This has sped up their technological advance greatly, and they're about to take their next step: colonization.
